That is what I call my dance movement therapy students in their 2nd year internship supervision class at Lesley University. I am moved time and again by the courage these therapists-in-training display in their internship sites, working with children, adolescents and adults with histories of abuse and neglect, adults with eating disorders, substance abuse, and people with dementia.
These women demonstrate tremendous courage ~ true courage ~ as they delve within to meet their own demons, limitations, and previously unacceptable emotions, so that they may integrate them in the service of helping their clients. Kudos to all dance movement therapy students who take on this hero's work.
